Hi! My name is Danielle, but you can call me Dani if you choose.
I grew up in Paris, Missouri and graduated as valedictorian from Paris High School in 2014. I’m a senior at Drury University, pursuing a Multimedia Production & Journalism degree with minors in Web Communication & Design and Law & Society.
This past August, I began my role as Campus News Editor for Drury University’s newspaper, The Mirror. I provide weekly content, peer-edit and layout the Campus News section. Before this promotion, I worked as a staff writer for three semesters.
If I wasn’t busy enough, I’m also a freelance photographer and write a blog, entitled The Pariscope, which offers free community news for the Paris, Missouri area.
Internships greatly contribute to a student’s view of the workforce, and I’m proud to say I’ve had several relating to my field of interest.
I’m currently employed at Ozarks Technical Community College as their Strategic Communications Intern. I worked at The Wheelan Law Office, LLC in 2016, and assisted in secretarial duties and managing the firm’s online presence. I have also worked for Lewis County Press for several summers, providing weekly multimedia content for two of their newspapers.
Throughout high school I was employed as a cellphone technician and waitress.
I am skilled in both Apple and PC technology and have worked with a wide variety of software for web design, editing, word processing, graphics, videography, and audio. This software includes, but is not limited to:
- WordPress and Wix
- HTML & CSS Knowledge
- Adobe Products (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Dreamweaver)
- Microsoft Office (Word, Powerpoint, Excel, Publisher, Outlook) and other word-processing programs
- Final Cut Pro X
Being active in organizations has always been a priority of mine, so I’ve tried to get involved as much as possible.
To start, I am a member of the Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society and Drury Ambassadors. I served as the ambassadors’ Alumni Reunion Chair for one term. I also just completed my third year as an orientation leader, as well as, my second year as a Team Leader.
My experience with service projects include working with Champion Athletes of the Ozarks, Dickerson Park Zoo, and Ozarks Food Harvest – just to name a few. In 2015, I helped Delta Delta Delta raise over $25,000 for St. Jude Children’s Hospital and served as their Alumni Relations and Chapter Correspondent for one term.
Study Abroad Experience
Spring 2017, I decided to push the boundaries of my comfort zone and move across the pond to Lincoln, United Kingdom. There I spent a semester studying Media at the University of Lincoln. It was, hands-down, the most incredible experience of my life.
On a Final Note
I have an insanely busy schedule, but I love every minute of it. I’m always writing, updating websites, shooting photo sessions, editing, or answering e-mails. I don’t know what I’d do with actual free time…probably just find something else to fill my schedule!
Some of my favorite things include cuddling with my dog, babysitting my nieces, chocolate, traveling and playing the ukulele – those things may or may not be in order.
I’m so passionate about everything I do and hopefully you can see that on this site. Please take a look around! If you have any questions, head on over to the contact page and write me a note. I’ll get back to you as quickly as I can.
